I strongly urge you to vote for Marc in the August 9th Democratic primary. As a former Vermont legislative staff person whoobserved our legislators in action for more than 20 years, I learned what makes an effective legislator. The legislators who become leaders, whose opinions and ideas are respected by their colleagues are people persons who enjoy interacting with a wide variety of folks of different backgrounds, perspectives and opinions. Good legislators do their homework. They listen to people and read relevant documents and then form an opinion. Legislative leaders are good at expressing why they hold that opinion and know how to respectfully and kindly disagree with those who might form a different opinion so that when the next issue comes up, their ideas and opinions continue to be respected even by those who disagreed with them on the last issue.

These are Marc’s strengths as he has shown many times throughout his career. This has made him an extremely effective advocate and a terrific leader.

Marc has worked on issues at the local, state and federal levels. He has a deep understanding of the importance of local communities and will bring his knowledge of how to work with the higher levels of government to leverage help targeted to strengthening and revitalizing our Calais, Marshfield and Plainfield neighborhoods.
— Plainfield voter

We support Marc Mihaly’s candidacy for Calais-Marshfield-Plainfield representative to the Vermont Legislature. We’ve known Marc and his family for many years now and we could not ask for a better neighbor. He is someone we trust implicitly. Though it may sound cliched, Marc is indeed an honest and committed advocate. . . . did we mention, among his many other virtues, he’s a good cook?

We have great respect for Marc’s intelligence, compassion, and level-headedness. He listens respectfully and thoughtfully to all points of view. He cares deeply about both the big and small issues we face as a community, and as a state, country, and world. He has dedicated his career to the environment and combating climate change. And he dedicates his “free time” to helping get the East Calais store re-opened, saving the Curtis Pond dam and other local projects.

Marc has been a consensus-builder in the many arenas he has served— on the boards of the Vermont Land Trust and Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (parent of Efficiency Vermont), and on Calais committees and as vice-chair of the Calais Selectboard—and he will bring these important skills to his representation of our towns. Marc started his career serving in the Peace Corps, then came back to the states to work at Legal Aid. These formative experiences carry through his outlook on the world and his commitment to our communities, especially our most vulnerable friends and neighbors.

He is deeply committed to the sustainability of small towns like ours at the same time he is invested in protecting our environment. As our representative he will be a tireless advocate for rural rejuvenation. He will work as a consensus builder to advance the interests of our towns, and to ensure that the needs of the 75%of Vermonters who don’t live in Chittenden County are heard and addressed.

We hope you will cast your vote in the August 9 primary for Marc Mihaly for Washington County-6 candidate for the House.

Do you know how when you’re working with a group of people to get something done, there are certain people who make you glad to be part of it? That’s Marc. With the Curtis Pond association, the dam project, and way back to my time with him at the Beth Jacob Hebrew school, I have always been grateful for Marc’s low key but determined and confident leadership style. He has brought a calm, friendly, inclusive, positive approach every time. He works hard and he knows his stuff. If he doesn’t know, he won’t bs you. I think he will do a fantastic job as our state rep, picking up where Janet is leaving off.
